Today Microsoft has unveiled the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Ecosystem Readiness Program designed to help Independent Hardware Vendors (IHVs), Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), developers, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and Original Device Manufacturers (ODMs) achieve compatibility and innovation with Windows 7.
The program provides partners with access to Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 beta builds, development and test toolkits, technical documents and application testing labs through Microsoft Connect. Software partners can join by going to: www.msdn.com/windows.

Microsoft executives say one of the lessons they’ve learned from Windows Vista is that notebook PCs have very different requirements than desktop PCs, and that adjustments reflecting this new understanding will be evident in Windows 7.

Chinese site pcbeta.com has posted some of the screenshots of Windows 7 beta build 7025.The build number is written as 7025.0.x86fre.winmain.09120-1850 which states that the build was created on the 20th Jan 2009 and also the main thing is that this beta version has Internet Explorer 8 RC 1 installed in it.Also the build expires on 2nd July 2009

Big changes have happened for certifying your application for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
The testing of the software by Microsoft,for Windows 7 compatibility(required for Windows Vista) is no longer required. Instead, the software programmers can carry out the tests themselves.Participation in the program is free.This is to ensure that the Windows 7 compatibility logo can be used for all future applications developed for the operating system .
The same is valid for Windows Server 2008 R2.
